Goodwick bowlers roll out new season

By County Echo Reporter in Bowls

FISHGUARD and Goodwick Bowling Club’s members took to the green on Saturday for the official opening of their new 2017 campaign.

President Ken Grace rolled the first jack, and this was followed by a all present bowling to the ditch, but saying on the green. Adam Hayes bowled a perfect wood and was the winner.

New Captain Richard Thomas, had the 24 bowlers playing rinks with three bowls, an unusual combination. The winning rink was skipped by Tony Evans, who was very ably supported by David Humble, John Lloyd and Gwen McFarlane.

On Sunday, 30 April, the men’s programme starts with an away game at Pembroke Dock in division two. Unfortunately our Ladies have had to withdraw due to a shortage of available players.

Fishguard and Goodwick Bowling Club will host an Open Day and Bowlathon Saturday, 13 May, but most afternoons when the wether is good there will be members present and the new members are invited to come and give bowls a go.
