TALENTED new pop singer Betsy says she is “totally fired up” ahead of her eagerly-anticipated sellout gig at Newport’s Memorial Hall on Friday, 12 May.
The 26-year-old from Nevern has taken the pop world by storm since a breathtaking appearance on BBC Introducing’s Maida Vale special where she performed before a ballot-entry audience.
Ahead of her debut album, Betsy has now confirmed a series of intimate dates around the UK next month in support of her new single Waiting.
Her glamourous lifestyle is all a far cry from the days when she worked on her mother’s goose farm and holed herself up in “a grotty caravan” to write the songs that would clinch her a lucrative Warner Brothers recording deal.
“The gig at Newport Memorial Hall is going to be the best night of the tour,” Betsy told the County Echo. “There’s nothing like coming home and performing in front of a crowd who all know you – it’s going to be pretty mad.
“The last time I was there was at my cousin’s wedding – I didn’t perform on that occasion except probably singing along in a drunken way!”
Betsy revealed Waiting “is about that fire and excitement you feel when you meet someone new, fall hook, line and sinker, and it feels like you’ve been waiting your whole life for them”.
