Llechryd brought back down to earth

By County Echo Reporter in Cricket

LLECHRYD were brought crashing down to earth in the Pembrokeshire Cricket League division two as Narberth earned the fastest finish in the division as they dismissed them for just 93 all out, and took fewer than 19 overs to reach their target, whilst losing only three wickets.

Just one point separated the teams at the top of the table, but it was Narberth who went clear at the top as only 14 year old Tomos Davies (37) and Leighton O’Connor (16) ever looked comfortable.

Llechryd’s batsmen found it hard going against Loui Davies (3 wickets for 11 runs) and Lewis Hough (3 for 24) alongside a wicket apiece for Ben Quartermaine, Owen Richards and Ben Hughes.

When Narberth batted Ritchie Adams maintained his good early-season form with 47 not out in partnership with skipper Jordan Howell (32 not out) to ease Narberth home, despite the efforts of Peter Betterley (1 wicket for 22), Ben Kiss (1 for 25) and Leighton O’Connor (1 for 21).

• Llechryd Seconds went down by 67 runs to Burton Seconds, who posted a challenging total of 161 thanks to contributions from Gavin Campbell (36), Ian Betterley (28) and Colin Picton (27). Andrew Fletcher took 3 for 27, Joe Mansfield 2 for 30 and Malcolm McHugh 2 for 21.

In reply, Fletcher made 21 but apart from tail-ender Steve Harding who made 32, runs were scarce as Daniel Ridge returned 4 for 9 to dismiss the hosts for 97.
