HAVERFORDWEST were good value for their victory against Lawrenny as they successfully chased down the home club’s tally with seven wickets and overs aplenty in hand – and beating the approaching rain in the process, writes Bill Carne.
Lawrenny started their innings quite well, but talented teenage fast bowler Johnny White again caught the eye for Haverfordwest as his left-arm deliveries earned him fine figures of 5 wickets for 22 alongside contributions by Adam James (2 for 58) and Kieran O’Connor (2 for 29).
There were useful scores for Rob Williams (22), Phil Cole (19), Simon Cole (29) and Matthew Lewis (24 not out) but Lawrenny were eventually all out for 146.
Simon Holliday again anchored the Town’s reply with 60 not out (six fours and two sixes), whilst Ben Field also batted really well for his 49 (two fours and four sixes) before he departed, leaving skipper Danny Potter to help ‘Doc’ Holliday steer their side to victory and move up to third position as their reward.
