HAVERFORDWEST County are pleased to announce that former Bluebird Tim Hicks has returned to the club as Assistant Manager to support Sean Cresser.

Hicks represented the Bluebirds with distinction in the Welsh Premier League, and played at that level for rivals Carmarthen Town, as well as a short spell at Aberystwyth Town for good measure, playing in over 250 games in the top flight.

“He also has a wealth of experence at Welsh League level, and most recently with Goytre United,” said a statement from the Club.

“As Tim is a Pembrokeshire lad, this appointment further re-affirms the desire of the club to give local players and coaches the opportunity to represent the side.

“Everyone at the club would like to welcome Tim back to the Conygar Bridge Meadow and to wish him every success in the role.”

Haverfordwest chairman David Hughes said that the Club had been disappointed to announce that their joint first team manager, Chris O’Sullivan, had decided to step down from his role with immediate effect.

For the next twelve months and beyond Chris will be concentrating on a new business venture which will not allow him the time he would need to devote to his role at the football club.

“I was initially shocked to hear of Chris’s decision, but having listened to his explanation, I have no doubt that he has made the correct one,” commented Hughes.

“He has been involved for many years as a talented and extremely competitive player and over the last 12 months he and Sean Cresser have been instrumental in implementing the club’s vision of involving a large percentage of local talent into their Welsh League squad

“Undoubtedly, it was the local knowledge and respect that Chris had gained over the years that made a great impact when their first squad was assembled.

“The transition was carried out with great success – a 4th place league finish and strong cup runs in all competitions is testimony to the great work that was done by both Chris and Sean.”

Meanwhile, following on from the recent announcement of Sean Pemberton and Ricky Watts as captain and vice captain respectively, the club have confirmed that four players have already committed themselves to the club for another season.

They are Stefan Williams, Kristian Speake, Mathew Broome and Ashley Bevan.

More signings will be announced shortly, but the club is delighted that these local lads have all agreed to sign for another campaign.
