Pupils attend Maths Conference at college

By County Echo Reporter in Local People

A group of talented Mathematicians attended a Maths Conference recently at Pembrokeshire College, accompanied by their Maths teachers, Helen Roberts and Min Walsh.

The day was organised by the Further Maths Support Programme from Swansea University and is designed to give the pupils a flavour of how Maths is used in industry and other institutions.

The pupils who attended are all considering studying Maths at A Level and possibly beyond.

The pupils enjoyed sessions on Maths in The Simpsons and a hugely entertaining interactive session on untangling ropes.

The keynote address was given by Sara Santos who gave the pupils a flavour of the sequencing that is involved in card tricks.

Two Ysgol Bro Gwaun pupils, Elin Williams and Emma Harries, beat off stiff competition to win a challenging quiz, both gaining full marks.
