Bluebirds turn attention to league opener

HAVERFORDWEST County turn their focus to their Welsh League division one campaign after wrapping up their pre-season preparations with a 1-0 win over Llantwit Major.

It was left to substitute Charlie Davies to strike in the second half at the Conygar Bridge Meadow following a tough test against a side entering division two for the first time in their history.

Although County will be happy with a third clean sheet this summer, they failed to take a number of chances; most glaringly through Joe Leahy missed sitter from inside the box.

It was down to academy product Davies to grab the winner in the 57th minute as he found the net after food work from Ricky Watts and Leahy.

The visitors could have levelled right at the death, but the Bluebirds’ Conah McFenton pulled off a stunning save to deny Jack Jones.

County’s Tuesday night friendly against Carmarthen Stars was rained off and so attention turns to the league where they travel to Port Talbot Town on Saturday for a 2.30pm kick-off.
